| Grave of Nikos Kazantzakis and Chanioporta If you proceed and exit the city walls, you will find the road
leading to Knossos. If, on the other hand, you choose to turn right
before the gates, onto Plastira Street, you can admire a large
section of the Venetian walls. At the Martinengo Rampart, you will
find the simple grave of the great writer Nikos Kazantzakis, with
the famous epitaph "I fear nothing, I hope for nothing, I
