| On the road passing through Pano and Kato Asites that ends 7 km further down at Agia Varvara. The entire village of Prinias has been declared an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a 30,000 m2 forest, while sections of Prinias and Agia Varvara are protected in accordance with the European "Natura 2000" Network. The area's geology is very interesting. There are herbaceous limestone formations with abundant marine fossils, such as in Pyrgos - Douli settlement, and typical remains of eroded Pliocene limestone, creating formations that the locals call "cheeses", which are more similar to hamburgers in shape... Just before you enter the village, you will see three carved entrances at the side of the road, leading to ancient tombs, which you can visit. |
