| Tsoutsouros is a large beach with fine sand. It is the traditional holiday resort for many Heraklians, so the scene is definitely a family one. Tourists only appear in peak season, with their jet skis and water-parachutes. You will find many tavemas with fresh fish from the Libyan Sea, and if you are lucky enough, you will have the opportunity to try fried stingray, which is unexpectedly delicious. The beautiful beach is ideal for afternoon strolls, and the only bleak spot is the excessive and disorganised building at some points. If you are fond of nightlife, this is probably not the place to be. There are very few bars, and the locals will not put up with the wild activities that take place in Malia and Chersonissos. Koudouma Monastery, with the uniquely beautiful landscape and deep blue waters is a little further east. The beach is pebbly and the sea deepens quite abruptly. It is recommended for adventure- persons , as the dirt road is rough and very steep, and there are no facilities besides a small cafe and the welcoming smile of the beautiful monastery's two monks. |
