| Kommos is ten minutes away from Matala by car. It is a huge beach
with fine sand, where the water is deep and not so suitable for
children when it is windy. There is only one small tavema at the
southern edge of the beach. However, the sunset here is one of
the most beautiful in Crete and definitely worth waiting for, with
Tymbaki bay in the background and the imposing presence of Psiloritis
and the White Mountains to the north. Unfortunately, you will not
