These are Mochlos and the surrounding villages. First, you will come to Sfaka on the main road. Turn left and go down the narrow asphalt road that will bring you to Mochlos in 15 minutes. In this village built next to the sea, with respect to the natural environment, you will enjoy moments of tranquillity and relaxation, and swim in the limpid sea. The only dark point for amateur swimmers is perhaps the 'meltemi' wind in August, and the rocks. Choose one of the picturesque tavernas by the sea and relax admiring the view of the 'big blue' surrounding you, with only the uninhabited islet some 150 m away from the shore reminding you of the terra ferma.
Order fresh fish caught by the locals themselves. The people who gather here seem to life and respect the work of nature, and enjoy it without pomp and circumstance. 150 metres from the shore, on the northern coast of Sitia, you will see the islet of Mochlos, an important Minoan centre. Archaeological excavations have brought to light rectangular tombs, gold jewellery, stone vessels, double axes, etc.
