Myrsini is the next destination. This enchanting village, with its selflessly hospitable and polite inhabitants, is about 3 km away from Mochlos, on the right of the main road to Sitia. Myrsini initially became famous because of the local cultural association's initiative of organising open-air concerts and inviting famous popular Greek musicians, at a time when such things were unknown in the countryside.
The artists became attached to the village and its people, and the venture was extended. If you are fortunate enough to arrive at the village in August, you will attend one of the wonderful concerts, under the starry sky and August moon, embraced by a cool atmosphere and the sea breeze.
Otherwise, you can walk uphill to the village, through the picturesque cobbled streets, and sit in the square or the entrance to the village for a coffee or a meal, and enjoy the panoramic view. You will feel surrounded on all sides by the deep blue sea and sky.
Speak to the friendly villagers, or sing with them if they set up an improvised feast. A workshop in the village produces beautiful pottery.
