| Continue towards the village of Chamezi, built at an altitude
of 380 m. A middle Minoan building complex was discovered here,
which is impressive because of the round shape of the wall surrounding
ten rectangular houses looking onto a common internal courtyard.
Many copper domestic objects were found in the rooms (axes, hoes,
chisel, etc.) and figurines from that period, as well as other
objects that are exhibited in the archaeological museum. There
is a Folk Art Museum in the village, with a reproduction of a traditional
Cretan home housed in a medieval building (Kamara). In hall A you
will find popular art, and a reproduction of a home with all its
household effects. In hall B you will find a loom and weaving materials. |
