Next, there is the exotic palm forest of Vai. As you descend towards
the beach, you have a sense of walking into an African landscape,
totally unrelated to anything you have seen so far. A large beach
with platinum sand, emerald transparent water and imposing rocks
jutting out of the sea; you may have seen these before.
What makes the difference is an entire forest of palm trees (5,000
trees), covering 250,000 sq. m behind the beach.
The area's exotic charm makes it a pole of attraction for hordes
of holidaymakers in the summer, and it will probably be overflowing
with bathers if you visit it during the tourist period. Vai is
a site of unique natural beauty that undoubtedly you will never
forget.
Two kilometres north of Vai, on the Sideros peninsula, you will
find Erimoupoli. It is an ideal place for swimming; all you have
to do is choose one of the three wonderful, quiet beaches. We recommend
the one furthest south, but be aware that this beach is also preferred
by without clothes ists.
