A few kilometres to the west, parallel to the southern coast,
you will see a rock in the shape of the ship's bow above the road.
Turn left carefully below this natural masterpiece and take the
narrow road down to idyllic Agia Fotia (Holy Fire). A cemetery
from the Proto-Minoan period was discovered here, with vaulted
tombs and gems.
Today you will find a large beach with black pebbles and transparent
clean water that deepens abruptly. Large rocks and mountains shelter
it so that you do not have to fight with huge waves surround the
beach... Marram trees and reeds offer their thick shade to rest
under.
The beach is organised, with umbrellas, deckchairs, a shower and
canteen, as well as tavemas nestled in the rocks or by the river
crossing the village, which, naturally, is dry in the summer. We
suggest you park somewhere in the village and walk down the riverbed
to the beach. It is pretty and cool even in midsummer... The accommodation
is well equipped and very pleasant, the prices are affordable and
the location perfect for a quiet and romantic holiday.
