Chania County can offer you
a multitude of water andother sports during yourholiday. In town,
you willfind football, basketballand volleyball groundsand an
organised trackin the Chania Stadium. Ifyou wish to have watersports
lessons, such, what is iling, water skiing orscuba diving, contact
theMarine Club. At the Tennis
Club, you can play tennis and volleyball while big hotels have
golf courses. At the water park just outside the town, you can
have fun and adventures in the pool. Organised beaches offer water
paragliding.
Ammolofos-Nea Chora is situated at 2km from the centre of Chania
and offers paragliding. Flights are possible with any wind direction.
One of the best flights in Crete is 45km from Chania. Takeoff is
at the end of the road, at the Kallergi refuge. From the Kallergi
refuge, the orientation of the flight if NW and continues over
the Samaria Gorge and Gigilo.
This is worthwhile if the wind blows from the east or there is
very little wind. A small rural road (4km from Asfikos village)
leads to the takeoff point situated at the top of the mountain.
The plateau, even when there is no wind, produces strong thermal
currents and one can remain in the air for

There are tennis courts and mini golf at Akrotiri for the enthusiasts.
Alternatively, you can test your resistance and admire natural
landscapes by attempting a mountaineering trip.
On the White Mountains, there is a refuge at Volikas for 25 persons
and one at Kallergi for 40 people. For additional information,
