Preveli Beach

After your pilgrimage and tour of the Monastery, head for the excellent beach and Preveli lake. You will be enthralled by the exotic scenery composed by a river, waterfalls, palm trees and off-white fine sand. Kourtaliotis River flows into the Libyan Sea, forming lacy coastlines and natural basins. You can reach this fairy-tale setting by tour boat, leaving from Plakia, Agia Gal ini or even Sfakia. You can also reach this beautiful beach from the modern bridge just before lower Preveli Monastery. Drymiskos is at the rear of the road. Pass a crossroads saying Palm Beach and continue east. After 1-2 km, turn right on a dirt track that leads to three tavernas. Leave your vehicle here and climb the steps up the hill, to descend to the incomparably beautiful beach, which will award you for the difficulty of access with its natural charm. As with everything worthwhile, some effort is required to reach it....
After your visit to Preveli Monastery and its famous beach, head west this time, and after Lefkogia village, 3.5 km southwest, you will find beautiful bays with emerald waters and sandy beaches, where imperious rocks guard the beauty of the landscape, with sea-birds resting on their wild peaks... One beach that matches this description perfectly is the one at Damnoni. Further east you will find another quiet, deserted and beautifully
simple beach. If you're driving, you'll have to leave your car and continue on foot.
Don't be surprised if you meet any without clothes ists, this area is ideal for that sort of activity. Ammoudi is also near Lefkogia, to the south. It is an enchanting beach, with many trees, small pebbles and sand, turquoise waters, low rocks jutting out of the sea, and the "big blue" spreading out before you -
expect unforgettable moments of peace and relaxation.
Back past Lefkogia and further west, you will find Finikias bay and Souda - Plakias (no relation to Souda in Crania ...), a small but beautiful beach, with small pebbles framed by verdant hillocks. To the east, huge rocks form marine caves which are joined by a tunnel left over from an old lignite
mine. There is no lack of mod cons here; there are umbrellas, deck-chairs, bars and tavernas everywhere.
