Heading northwest from Plakias, you come to Sellias village. It
is a verdant village with a wonderful view of the Libyan Sea, set
in a beautiful landscape on the southern slope of Xyli Peak. If
you arrive here on the I 5th of August, you will have the opportunity
to attend the local religious festival.
A few kilometres north of the village is the impressive Kotsyfos
Gorge. There is an excellent taverna at the mouth of the gorge
where you can enjoy your meal. Then you can pass through the gorge
parallel to the riverbed, where the scenery is amazing, with tall,
vertical and imposing rocks on either side of the narrow asphalt
road, and two small waterfalls at the beginning of the route. The
river dries up in summer, but in springtime it is still running.
At the other end of the gorge you will be faced with the bay of
Gialia.
Climbing north into the intenor from the gorge, you will pass Kanevos,
Aggouseliana, Paleoloutro, Agios Vassilios, and then turn left
to Armeni.
