On the northern coast of the island, especially, you can enjoy
busy, organised beaches with umbrellas, deck chairs, cafes and
canteens for coffee and breakfast or brunch, with loud music spreading
everywhere and creating a lively, exotic atmosphere.
Visit the golden, twelve (!) kilometre-long beach of Rethymnon,
just outside the city, and enjoy the sea, which is ideal for small
children, as it is shallow for several metres and the beach is
perfect for huge.. .sandcastles.
Alternatively, you can follow an easy route over a tarmac road
to the beach of Plakias, which attracts crowds of tourists - the
only disadvantage here are the strong winds. If you prefer deserted
beaches, with crystalclear waters and untouched by the development
of tourism, we suggest you head for the county's southern coast.
On Limni Prevelis coast you will be impressed by beautiful landscape,
the clean, turquoise sea and sand-and-pebble beaches, which impose tranquillity
and the imperious beauty of the low rocks, the jagged coastline,
the trees and fauna that has escaped environmental degradation
caused by tourism. In the broader area, you will come across deserted,
beautiful Ammoudaki beach, where you may encounter without clothes ists, as
they seem to prefer it for its unworldly character. If you continue
towards Lefkogia, you will be amazed by Ammoudi beach that looks
like a film set in its imperious simplicity, with imposing scattered
rocks jutting out of the sea. If you enjoy exploring the seabed,
you will definitely be left speechless by the riches of Ammoudi.
Among the most beautiful beaches in Crete, in southeastern Rethymnon
County, are Agia Irini, Triopetra, Ligres, and Agios Pavlos. One
after another, set in a row along the coastline, they vie each
other in beauty, with their limpid waters, lacy coasts, and peaceful
nature. They are among the most remote beaches that you will discover,
and you will be enchanted by the unspoilt landscape.
