The bigger village in population in Folegandro is
the Country. It is built in the end of enormous rock, of 200 meters
from the surface of sea. In the Country is found also the imposing
castle that is constituted by houses, that begin from the middle
of village and lead in verge of precipice above the sea. The island
allocates also innumerable churches. In side of hill opposite from
the Country is found the big monastery of natural Mary with unique
view the all island and the immense sea. It is for a white,
imposing church, catholic old monastery, that celebrates on 15 August,
when becomes also big festival. Southernly the Country is found
a small settlement, Agali, with the most beautiful beach
with a lot of green. An other village of island perfectly different
from the Country is the Upper Side. It is constituted from small,
scattered rural settlements, with graphic stone lodges. Exists here
a big church Saint George that dominates with his beauty. Worthy
admiration the old windmills that supplement the beauty of landscape.
Interest and the Folklore Museum that functions in the region. Three
km NA from the Country is found the small settlement Karabostatis
that constitutes also the harbor of island. It is a graphic closed
bight that is surrounded by red rocks and in his entry is
found two rocky islands. From here can no one go with boat to
the cavern of Chrysospilias. It is considered the bigger
caverns of Greece but remains still unsearchable. It is found ten
meters above the sea and his dome is situated above stalagmites
with strange forms. This cavern presents separate interesting because,
apart from the impressive stalagmites and stalactites that constitute
his internal decor, it constitutes also important archaeological
space of one and has diged here relic of human skeletons, pieces
from broken vessels and innumerable names of men. It is believed
that the cavern this was place of adoration for ancient Greeks and
