This place is fabulous, divine we would say, it has been inhabited in prehistoric period and mainly in Mycenean period, as it is proved by the abundant and the rich discoveries in the cemeteries of Ialysoy and Kameiroy. Dorians, with their leader Tlipolemo, first inhabied the island, separating it in three cities - states that knew important acne and participated at the archaic season in the foundation of Dorian exapolis. Medieval city
The city is built semi-circular round the central harbor. It was separated in two parts: The southerner side, Chora, where the time of Knights lived by Greeks, the families of Francs and the Jews, and the northern side, separated with wall, that constituted internal citadel, roughly in the place of ancient down citadel, where are saved certain relic. The medievals named it Kastelo or Kollakio. Here, there are found all the buildings. The aspect from then has not changed substantially, the Turks made small changes, mainly trellis and sachnisia that they added in the houses and minarets in the churches.

The Castle Walls, as they are today, do not change a lot from then and we would say that they represent the season which was upset with the discovery of firearm.
