About Mykonos...

History
The island is said that it took his name from the hero Mykonos. According to the mythologic tradition, with the island Iraklis crashed the last of the giants. Then it passed in the sovereignty of Venice, up to the pillage of Barbarosa, and immediately afterwards devolved to their Turks. At the duration of Ottoman domination it was managed as the other Cyclades islands. The island was developed little by little in naval force, while from the 19th centry became center of pirates. Mykonos or Chora

In the center of almost village the monastery of natural Mary of Tourlianis, that was founded in 1542 by two monks from Katapoliani of Paros in the place where existed previously church of Panagia (Eisodia).
